Pedigrees
Choose a pedigree and follow its ancestors, dam families and sport results.
Choose the information you need
Use /v1/horses/{horse_id}/pedigree/breeding for descriptive family information. sport selects relatives with a sport level or stallion approval. performance returns the broader family set, up to five best results per horse and aggregate international prize money. black-type selects black-type horses, qualifying jumping horses and certain young horses with results. Sport and black-type pedigrees return up to three best results per horse. Each operation has its own access and price.
Follow the family
Every response has subject, tree, dam_line and dam_line_truncated. The tree goes back three generations to great-grandparents. The dam line contains up to four dams, each with her offspring and up to three descendant generations through mares. Every full horse node has a public id, name, nullable birth year, sex, colour and studbook, plus approved_for. Dam-line horses and their offspring also have sire_name, the sire's recorded name, or null; it carries no sire ID. Compact full-sister references contain only id and name. Use each ID to request another pedigree or results. Missing parents are null. Within offspring lists, a repeated dam occurrence has repeated_dam: true and no nested offspring; an occurrence of the subject has is_subject: true.
Sport and results
The three richer pedigrees add sport to every full horse node. It includes black_type, capitals, the current raw rating and seven nullable levels. Dam-line horses and sire_best_offspring also carry performance. Its result summaries include place, date, discipline, international, competition, edition, class, jumping height and awarded prize in integer EUR cents. Each best rider has an id, name and nullable nationality_iso_code. The jumping record gives the number of wins at the highest height with a win and the number of placings at the highest height with a placing, then the same at the next lower height of each kind in second_highest_wins and second_highest_placings. Placings include wins: in an international class a result is a placing when it earned prize money, and in any other class when its place is in the best quarter of the class's finishing places, rounded up. Results can come from classes still being entered. A real class, edition, competition and valid participants are required. Results are ordered by height descending with null last, place ascending, date descending and a stable tie-break.
Black type
Hippomundo black type means a jumping level of at least 1.45 metres, international dressage at CDI3* or above, or eventing at level 3 or above. The selection can also retain horses with international jumping level 1.40 metres, selected young horses with results and mares needed to connect qualifying descendants. capitals is a separate flag used to print a horse name in capitals in catalogues.
Limits and empty values
A response contains at most 500 full dam-line horse occurrences, counting the dams and repeated appearances. Ancestors, up to three sire offspring and compact full-sister references are outside that cap. When necessary, trimming removes generation three first, then generation two, then generation one, starting in the fourth dam family and moving towards the first. The dams remain. Check dam_line_truncated; there is no next page or depth override. Known empty lists are []. A jumping record is null when unavailable; its wins or placings may separately be null. Prize totals are null when no eligible prize is recorded, and preserve recorded zero and negative amounts.
Breeder and owner
Only the breeding subject may include breeder and owner, each with a name and country code, when disclosure is available and consent permits it. Other nodes and the richer pedigrees never contain these objects. When disclosed, cached party data expires within seven days under a fixed expiry. Live requests do not extend that expiry. Without party disclosure, all four pedigrees use the ordinary freshness policy.
